Ion Nitriding for Steel Tooling and Dies
IonWear® is Sun Steel’s plasma nitriding solution for tool and die stamping equipment. The process is specially engineered to provide stamping dies and tooling with an extremely high level of resistance to wear and corrosion. The result is a ceramic-like surface structure that enhances the performance, consistency, and longevity of your die stamping equipment.
Vacuum Hardened Tool Steel
Our tool and die vacuum hardening services provide a superior finish and surface hardening for improved tool strength. Sun Steel’s vacuum hardening system offers 12-bar quench pressure and an 8,000-pound capacity capable of processing some of the industry’s largest commercial tooling and stamping dies.
Our normalized tool steel exhibits improved homogenization within the metal grain structure. This is extremely beneficial for stamping dies and tooling which will require additional heat treatment services.
